Is the space for your bathroom extremely small? If so, this can be difficult to work with. Whether you are remodeling your small bathroom or building a new home and only have limited space for the bathroom, the right bathroom floor plans can really help you make the most of even a small space.

A small area for your bathroom means you will have to pay close attention to every detail of your plans so that all parts of the bathroom work just right. Here you will find some planning ideas that will help you get the most bang for the buck with your small bathroom.

Color and Lighting can make a Difference

First of all, no matter how you end up developing the floor plans for the bathroom, choosing the right colors and lighting options are going to be very important. This is because with the right colors and lights you can take a small cramped bathroom and make it appear much larger than it is. The floor plans are important but so is the color and lighting.

Avoid Accessories of Appliances that Stick Out

Appliances and fixtures that stick out are something you definitely want to avoid when creating your bathroom floor plans. Every inch that they stick out into the room will take up valuable space. Go with smaller appliances or fixtures that stick close to the walls. This will leave you much more floor space and give the bathroom the illusion of being bigger.

Use Vertical Lines

Using vertical lines in the bathroom decor can do a lot to make your bathroom look bigger. It can provide more height in your bathroom. Consider having tiling that goes from floor to ceiling. You can even go with wall paper in the bathroom that incorporates vertical stripes. This way you get the illusion of height.

Mirrors Open the Room

Most bathrooms have a mirror over the sink, but did you know that a couple more well placed mirrors could make the room look bigger? The reflection in the mirror opens the room. Place a few decorative mirrors around the bathroom and you have instantly added the appearance of square footage.

Shower or Tub?

When you are creating your bathroom floor plans for a smaller bathroom, think about having an area for a shower instead of having the full tub. Tubs are nice and everyone likes them but they take up a lot of needed floor space in a smaller bathroom. A shower on the other hand will not take up so much room and leave you will more floor space to work with.

While coming up with bathroom remodeling plans when you are limited on space can be frustrating but it can be done. Use the tips above to help you along the way. You can create a bathroom that is lovely and fully functional even when using a small space. Better a nice looking small bathroom than no bathroom at all!

You have some interesting concepts. I have been designing a new kitchen and bathrooms for us for some time now and searching the Internet for ideas. I do have a leg up on most, though, because I’m a cabinetmaker, so I can do my own cabinetry, which is the heart of a bathroom. One of the things I have been finding, though, is that there are just a ton of ideas out there. I have been working on this for some time and trying to share my ideas with others. I have hopes of glorious bathrooms for us. But we’ll just have to see how it turns out.
